Book reviews for the terminally kinked
Please tell me someone else on my friendslist has read Melusine and The Virtu? alksdgalshg

Felix is: A sorcerer! A catamite! Covered in ritual tattoos! Insane through most of the first book! Kind of an asshole!

Mildmay is: A cat-burgler! Marked by a serious facial scar! Able to cuss fit to put sailors to shame! Often unexpectedly sweet. <3

They both are: Brothers who look eerily alike! Murderers! Absurdly co-dependent! Bound by a magic forces Mildmay to obey Felix's commands!

Also: There are strong, awesome women! And Politics! And adventures! And, you know, parts of the books where Felix and Mildmay aren't kissing, I guess. >.> Er.

Basically, these books need large amounts of kinkporn. Kinkporn with dubious consent, and magical coercion, and perving over scars, and dirty talk, and BDSM in all it's constituent parts. Surely, surely, someone on the internet has porned this?

...where can I find those again?

Who's the author? How many books in the series? And do you happen to know if there's an ebook version of those novels?

They're available on Amazon, or you might find them in a borders? 's where I found Melusine in the first place, browsing for summer reading a couple of years back. The author is Sarah Monette, there are at least three in the series so far and I believe another planned to come out next april? I've only read these first two so far, though. I don't believe there's an ebook version--I haven't found one so far--but I might have missed it? I didn't look very hard, in any case.

...those do sound promising!

it looks like they have a few stories in the yuletide archive, for starters. ^_^

You in particular I think would really enjoy them. The (ever-shifting) power differentials are kind of ;lakshglhsadg;lahg.

I love yuletide. Somehow I always forget it's there, when I go looking for something obscure, and yet it always seems to deliver. <333

*grins* I was under the impression that they basically /were/ kinkporn with etc. Or at least darn close. On the other hand, the author was an old fandom hand before she Made It Big so I imagine that she's downright encouraged the fic.

I'm finding very little fic, surprisingly enough. It's quite distressing. And the books? Are just big teases. These two have enough sexual tension to bring down a mid-sized city with, and never get anywhere with it. I go, "DDDD:"

...Oh crap. I am weak to awesome sounding books! D: (Now I must decide if I should direct it to my house or my dorm depending on how long it will take to arrive...)

Read it read it!!! Then we can perv over the awesome together. The only thing I'd warn you about is not to expect the different volumes to function as their own books, because they don't. But if you understand the whole series as essentially a unit, they're fabulous.
