Arashi: Truth
I am so out of the loop on everything ever, you guys. Arashi came out with a new single back in like...august? Late august, I think? And I have just now gotten around to actually sitting down and listening to it and watching the PV.
This is the opening for his drama Maou last season, which I only watched bits of because I am a terrible fan and also was really busy, but is about a somewhat psychotic lawyer plotting the perfect revenge. Ohno is...actually really scary, in it. Which is weird, because it's OHNO, but...he gets intense like when he's dancing, but without showing any of the emotion and it's just... yeah. I recommend it.
...So, Leader is kind of hot like burning here. You can so tell this is for one of his projects--the concept is a little dark, and the dancing is SO CRISP. I love it. I really wish Jun would stop perming his hair though. It never fails to look utterly retarded, and he looks so good with his spiky hair. Nino looks great with his cut though. Sho continues to fail utterly at looking badass--but succeeding greatly at looking like a little boy who needs a hug. And some candy. And some badtouch. >.> Um. What was I saying? Aiba on the other hand always surprises me at how growly and intense he can get, since he's such an adorable goof most of the time. All that time hanging out with lions and tigers?EXPERIMENT! I really like the costumes too, overall. I wish they'd keep putting Arashi in silky suits and shiny leather instead of those godawful sweaters. Seriously. These costumes are hot! Let's keep them.
As for the music...The violins. The violins. Hot damn. I love the sharp quality of the chorus, and the repetitive tones. The lyrics are kind of (a lot) emo, though that makes sense given the series it was written for. I swear I keep hearing "sadame is its own sadness" which...I'm pretty sure isn't really the lyric? I'll have to look it up. Probably I just need to sleep more.
Their other single, from November, was called Beautiful Days, and it was the theme for Nino's drama Ryuusei no Kizuna, which I never got around to seeing any of. I really like it, myself, but it probably wouldn't convert anyone who wasn't already a fan. It's just. A lot of Arashi's music, to me, reads a lot like a friend giving you a hug when you're having a hard time and saying "It's going to be okay. Keep trying your best, and it's going to be alright." Which is geeky in the extreme, I know, because...that's their image, and they're manufactured to be that way. But still. Their music makes me really happy. <3
New single, Believe, in March. Here's hoping it doesn't take me half a year again to get around to listening to it? *fail*
