PSA: Hojojutsu techniques
In the midst of doing research for something else entirely (sigh, internet) I came across this awesome set of instructional videos on hojojutsu, or medieval japanese restraint techniques (yes, this is what kinbaku/shibari grows out of later). Noting that this is supposed to be rather dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, I still thought it might be relevant to the interests of some people on my friendslist-- for fictional purposes, if nothing else.
