Though if you're looking for new fandoms, the short version is:
Arashi is a japanese boyband. They are made of pure happy sparkly rainbow absurdity. Darkeyedwolf and honooko did pimp posts here and here, respectively. They are awesome and dorky and BFF and do shows where they play with baby lions and hang out with old grandmas and grandpas. aklsjdglsadkhg;l I can't even. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. I really think everyone's life would be better with Arashi in it. <333
Yamada Taro Monogatari stars two of Arashi's five members, and is about jesus!schoolboy, his gold-digger girlfriend, his uber-rich prankster of astalkerboyfriend, and his nine totally adorable younger siblings whom he works himself half to death to support. It's a funny show, thought the humor is very japanese, and occasionally hits my embarrassment squick pretty hard. You can watch it streaming here.
Hazakari no Kimitachi e is loosely based on the manga of the same title (hanakimi--for you in full blossom, in the states). It's about a girl who crossdresses and sneaks into an all-boys school to help heal the boy she likes. The three main characters are ridiculously, ridiculously BFF, and the woman who plays the main girl is totally my new girlcrush. You can watch it, also, here.
Saiunkoku monogatari is faux!ancient china fantasy. It's super ghei, and the female characters are pretty awesome. I don't know where you can see it online anymore though.

Soul Eater is halloween with living weapons. Actually, it's kind of weird to describe, but I'd totally recommend it. The characters are all compelling, the art style is awesome, and it has the most amazing and equitable male-female relationships (both romantic and non-) that I've EVER seen in anime.
D-Gray.Man is about exorcists battling demons throughout a steam-punk Europe. It reminds me a lot of fullmetal alchemist, but somewhat less realistic, and the plot isn't as tight. The characters are fun though, and it's a good watch.
Merlin I've only watched the first couple of episodes for, on RegicidalDwarf's enthusiastic recommendation. It's. Not terribly accurate to the myth? But really, really gay. And Morgana is kind of eye-searingly hot. As is Merlin (though in more of a flaily, adolescent kind of way). That's. About as much as I got, so far. But I like it?
