I am so out of the loop on everything ever, you guys. Arashi came out with a new single back in like...august? Late august, I think? And I have just now gotten around to actually sitting down and listening to it and watching the PV.

Their other single, from November, was called Beautiful Days, and it was the theme for Nino's drama Ryuusei no Kizuna, which I never got around to seeing any of. I really like it, myself, but it probably wouldn't convert anyone who wasn't already a fan. It's just. A lot of Arashi's music, to me, reads a lot like a friend giving you a hug when you're having a hard time and saying "It's going to be okay. Keep trying your best, and it's going to be alright." Which is geeky in the extreme, I know, because...that's their image, and they're manufactured to be that way. But still. Their music makes me really happy. <3

New single, Believe, in March. Here's hoping it doesn't take me half a year again to get around to listening to it? *fail*

Also, how did I think Roland was a pussy during my first playthrough? He's told us twice now to kill him if he fails us, that he's prepared for that. I. I like him so much better now that I can see how mean he is. I mean. No, he's not one of us, and he's a piss-poor replacement for any one of our actual comrades. But man, he's hard enough that he can definitely come play in our sandbox for a while. <3

They both are: Brothers who look eerily alike! Murderers! Absurdly co-dependent! Bound by a magic forces Mildmay to obey Felix's commands!

Also: There are strong, awesome women! And Politics! And adventures! And, you know, parts of the books where Felix and Mildmay aren't kissing, I guess. >.> Er.

Basically, these books need large amounts of kinkporn. Kinkporn with dubious consent, and magical coercion, and perving over scars, and dirty talk, and BDSM in all it's constituent parts. Surely, surely, someone on the internet has porned this?

I feel sort of weirdly in-between fandoms, lately. Not all that interested anymore in my previous big fandoms, but not in love with something new yet either. So! Clearly, it's time to appeal to the great god Internets.

In other news, Eternal Darkness has some of the coolest technical effects of any game I've ever played, and it is scary as fuck. If you have a gamecube, or a wii I guess, I highly highly recommend it.

So, probably everyone who watches me has already heard about this? But my home state just recently passed a law that allows for gay marriage. Even though my partner is male, I was still so proud and happy and moved that I cried when I heard the news. My family have already stood as witnesses for various out-of-state couples whom our Rabbi has married this month, and it's just been such an incredible thing; you can really see how much these people love each other, and how much this means to them even aside from the step towards equal legal rights.

And now there's an initiative on the November ballot that would make those marriages invalid and prevent future couples from having the right to marry.

Among the IRL things I'm doing about the situation, I'm also offering art at the fundraiser auction Live Long and Marry. My post has more details, but I'm offering a fully colored, finished pic of any fandom I've done so far (and you can ask about others) or original art (of you, or your OC, or something else), drawn, printed on glossy photo paper, and mailed to you with a digital copy. Bidding starts at 10$.

There's also a lot of other shiny things up there. I know both Laylah and Sister_Coyote are offering fic, and there are a lot of interesting other things being offered as well. Please check it out and consider contributing in some way if you can.

One of them is a no-nonsense court official (the first female official in her country) working undercover for the secret police as the princess's body double; the other is a princess who fishes and knows how to detect poisons in water and can take down three grown men in seconds all on her own. They spend at least weeks in the Imperial harem together, flirting and sleeping in the same bed to minimize assassination attempts, and they look like twins.

If you're out drinking, and there's a girl at the bar next to you getting felt up by some dude her father's age and she looks really uncomfortable? This is a standing invite to break through the Someone Else's Problem barrier and go over and help her out. Ask if she can show you where the bathrooms are. Be Very Friendly (tm) at the creep until she can get away. Invite her to your table (if you can keep Creep from following). And guys? If you see one of your friends being THAT GUY? If you're watching one of your boys get some girl drunk to "help her be more friendly" or try to "wear down" some girl who's already told him no half a dozen times? Friends don't let friends be creeps. Take him aside and remind him that she's a person too, and not a thing he has a right to use. It's sad, but a lot of the time, when someone's being THAT GUY, he's not going to hear it when a woman tells him to quit acting like a creep, where he might hear it coming from you. Apply the "how would I like him doing this to my sister?" rule.

Right now, I'm at a place with fandom where a lot of the people I follow are in fandoms that I'm either not gotten to the canon yet and don't want to spoil myself or that I'm just not interested in. And yet... whenever I see that they've posted something new, it makes me so happy. It's like, "Hey! So-and-so posted this new thing! And it's probably awesome, because EVERYTHING she writes is awesome. <3 That's awesome." And, I mean...Do I want to read it? No. It just makes me happy that it's there. It makes me happy that good people are having fun with stuff.

I am a total geek. :D

Cloud vs. Sephiroth AC fight

I was re-watching some scenes from various FF7 things this morning, and something really stood out to me: nearly everyone I've talked to who's tried to write Sephiroth has noted how particularly difficult he is to get in bed, even the ones who normally have no great trouble with explicit stories. He's often written as nearly-asexual. But if you watch the canon, a lot of his lines and delivery are... if not outright sexual (and the "get on your knees; I want to hear you beg for forgiveness" line can definitely be argued) then at least deeply sensual. So I'm wondering where the disconnect comes from?

I don't really write much, myself, and I've never tried to write Sephiroth in any case. So I'm putting out a general query to those on my f-list who do write/have written him: How do you view sephiroth's sexuality and how does that play into the way you write his character, either in outright smut or in tamer pieces?

I just got to the last dungeon in DDS2. ( Jesus H. Christ. )

This game. Man. Just. And I thought squeenix had the market cornered on mashing every button I had. O.O
